FAQ

What does approve-first-then-publish mean?

Japan examines and approves first, then publishes for 2 months for opposition — the reverse of most countries. After approval, the registration fee must be paid before the certificate issues; we pay it for you and tell you the amount in advance.

Does the quote include official fees?

Yes — the first-class application official fee, Japanese agent fee and our service fee. The post-approval registration fee is collected separately at the official rate, itemized before signing.

Do materials need Japanese?

No. Application documents are prepared by the Japanese benrishi firm; you only provide Chinese materials and the trademark image.

Do Chinese-character marks work in Japan?

Registrable, yes — but Japanese consumers read kana and romaji. We advise searching similar-sounding marks in parallel and, when needed, planning a Japanese brand name; suggestions come with the search report.

What if the application is refused?

After an office action arrives, we give a response plan within 48 hours. Response work is quoted separately by workload — you decide whether to proceed.
